I want to tell you about the happiest day of my life. On August 22, 1955, at Laguardo Baptist Church, Jesus saved my soul. I had been under conviction for a long time. My burden got so heavy I couldn’t fight anymore. I was so unhappy, and I knew I was lost. But that Wednesday night I couldn’t fight anymore. I started praying, asking Jesus to save me. When they have the altar call, I was sitting in my seat still praying, begging Jesus to save me. When I stood up to go to the altar Jesus saved my soul! Praise God! What a wonderful peach I felt in my heart! I knew I was saved. My burden was gone. I had peace with God. I was so happy—I still am.
Thank God every day for my salvation and the peace I have. I have been so blessed. Another blessing was when my good friend Geneva Lain invited me to go to Beckwith Missionary Baptist Church in August of 1956. Bro. Ted Smith was the pastor then. I have been at Beckwith ever since! I love Bro. Danny’s preaching and all my church family. Thank you, God! Barbara Powell Watts
